Joint check barrels

I am needing a set of regular frame 12 gauge joint check extractor barrels. Steel if possible and from a grade 2 or 3 would be great but dont necessarily have to be. Going on a grade 3 pre 1913 that probably had damascus. Any ideas or leads would be appreciated.

Do you have the original barrels for this LCS ??? Exactly what type of "joint check" barrels do you need ??? There were at least 3 different types of "joint checks" used on LCS SXSs and maybe even more then 3..... Can you post a picture of the type of "joint check" your LCS has??? It appears to be the plain rotary joint check. I do not have the original barrels. Gun is mismatched with a set of ejector 2e barrels. Serial number is 46179

David is not the "roller" a joint check ???

Jent Merry Christmas to you and Annie. I've heard it call joint check mostly, but roller check seems to be the common term used on the older guns.

I do have a Specialty Grade with the second style joint check and from what I have heard is that if the spring breaks there is a big problem getting the barrels off. If anyone out there has had this happen on this style joint check it would be nice to hear your story.

Well after some help from a fellow member I found a set of barrels that will work without any hand fitting. I am unsure of grade that these came off of but do have the silver rib inlay. They are not stamped with the grade but must be from a graded gun as they have the fine metal inlay as well as royal steel. These barrels will need to have serial number corrected as well as engraving cut. These barrels lack any engraving around the breach as well as the rib extension. My other grade 3's as well as grade 2's have a border around the tubes on the breach end as well as rib extension. Is there a standard pattern which it should have as all I'm going off of is my other guns in similar grades. I was also told that the grade 3's had gold inlay at the ribs but all I have seen is silver.

If those barrels are marked "Royal Steel" they are fluid steel and were originally fitted to Hunter's lowest grade hammer gun, which is OK as they will work equally well on a hammerless frame. Don't know why this barrel set would have a rib inlay, which was never a feature on a low grade hammer gun; but as to engraving I suggest you duplicate the engraving pattern on the original barrel set if they exist, and if not use engraving motif equivalent to the grade stamp on the gun frame. As to changing the grade mark and serial number on the replacement barrels flats, I'd leave them as is if the gun were mine.

Thanks for the comments. I will double check those barrels and see for sure what they are. I wish I had the originals but previous owner had fitted a set of ejector barrels on it when it was actually supposed to have extractor.

I was wrong. They are Crown steel. I dont know what I was thinking when I said royal.I did find what I believe is a 2 stamped and partial polished out from a past refinish.
