Barrel Flat C

I just purchased a 20 gauge Field Grade hoping it was the one Rochester 20. Turns out it is not but has the infamous "US" and "USA-F" on the barrels. But one marking is a mystery. The right barrel flat has a capital "C" which appears to be stamped over the faint remnant of a word or series of numbers. I can email the image but too tech challenged to post it here.
Anyone know the meaning of the "C"?

I looked up the serial number in the records to see if it was one of the six C-Frame shotguns. It is not. Those numbers are in the 126000 block of numbers.
