How can you remove cold blue from ribs on Damascus barrels and eliminate roughness on the barrels without damage. Thanks for your responses, Bryan

I have used Birchwood Casey stock sheen to rub out some unwanted rust without hurting the contrast. Just put some on a rag or paper towel and gently buff the area. The abrasive isn't super aggressive .

All the cold blue removal solutions are acidic Bryan, and will etch the softer iron in the damascus tubes. White vinegar would work, and might slightly enhance the contrast.
Be sure and adequately clean and oil the barrels, especially along the rib joints, afterwards.

I've been wondering what the best way is to clean the inside barrels. I have an old 1887 LC should the inside look polished?

Never use a stainless steel tornado brush with pattern welded barrels Bob; I use a brass brush with whatever powder/plastic removing solution you prefer - I like Shooter's Choice MC #7, sometimes with Hoppe's Elite Bore Gel if there is a lot of plastic build up in rough areas

For serious cleaning, use a Big 45 Frontier Cleaner Pad soaked in Kleen Bore's Formula 3 Gun Conditioner, on a cleaning rod and chucked in a portable drill.
