As all who have shot and worked on L.C.s it is fact that with time chamber lengths have varied due to shell developement.I ask this question because I dont think its been asked. If you shoot a 2 and three fouth shell in a shorter chambered gun, could it be a factor in the gun having to be forced open after firing especially if the gun has ejectors?

Yes, if a 2 1/2" chambered 20g, which were lengthened to 2 3/4" about 1936. Possibly if a 2 9/16" chambered 16g using a "short magnum" shell.
