I reload. I am looking for recipes for 20ga. 7/8 oz. I have hundreds of Win Compression formed hulls. I can purchase powder, primers and wads as necessary. I have a lot of shot ,so that is not a cost factor. I have scoured Hogden, Alliant and Winchester reloading data . Best I can come up with is using Unique or Win 572 powders for loads of around 1150 fps and 7200 - 8700 psi. I was hoping to find a load with a little less fps to prevent stock cracking. 1. Is the 1150 fps low enough to be OK enough to avoid stock cracking? 2. Anyone have any published load data using Win AA hulls with a lower fps? Thank you for your consideration. Dale

Dale, the first thing what is your chamber length, 2 1/2" or the later 2 3/4" as this will make a difference as to PSI. Years ago I used to shoot a lot of 20 ga. Winchester AA compression formed hulls reloaded to factory specs but I was shooting them out of a Winchester 101 with 2 3/4' chambers. I don't know what the specs were from then but I know they were over 8,000 psi and probably closer to 10,000. I still have some of those reloads but I will not shoot them in my L.C.'s only in the Winchester. Great shell, I could get 13 reloads out of them before the mouth cracked.
I think that if your chambers are 2 3/4" the 1150 fps is ok. I don't know how much more pressure would be at a 2 1/2" chamber but I wouldn't chance it.
