I was wondering if you can take the stock off WITHOUT taking the top lever out of the gun? It looks like you might be able to take out all the screws and bolts BUT leave the top lever screw in. Is that possible! I glued up the cracks in the stock under the side plates and added metal staples with epoxy reinforcements. I just wonder what other cracks there are in stock head.

Nathan, you cannot take the stock off as you described. The large screw under the top lever and the small top lever screw on the trigger frame must come out in order to release the trigger assembly from the receiver. The trigger assembly will now be free to remove and then the receiver can come out of the stock. The top lever itself will remain in the receiver. Taking out the top lever is another procedure in itself. You didn't state what gun you have but this procedure can be a bit difficult if you haven't done it before. If this is any single trigger gun I would advise not doing this on your own
