Hello LCSCA Members,
My family started the Prescott Hardware Co. back in the early 1890's in Arkansas. It would be interesting if I could locate a Smith with their name on a gun or if the shipping records have any leaving the factory.

Mr. Cravens .... It would be fun to find a Smith that was sold at your ancestors’ hardware store. It could be possible from my own experience as an.example. In my case, I found and bought an L C Smith on the eastern shore of Maryland. I asked Jim Stubbendieck for one of his historical records letter and found out that the shotgun was sold from a hardware store in Baltimore. Upon further Baltimore city research, I discovered where the hardware store was located, found a picture of it before and after the store was destroyed in a huge city fire. So I have a fun historical record of my shotgun. So, my suggestion is to contact Mr. Stubbendieck, & he may be able to provide a list of Smith serial numbers of guns sold in the Preston Hardware store. Further, It’s possible that a research letter has already been prepared for one of those shotguns. Anyway ... just a thought. Best Regards. Roger
