Last winter I was in my LGS and the owner had a LCS Ideal grade he had taken in an estate purchase of double guns.It was a 20ga with a Curtis for-end. The butt stock was cracked in a couple of places at the wrist, held together with finishing nails. The two pieces of wood that run along the lower tang to the receiver were warped and had wood putty repair on them. The dealer was going to part the gun out as the stock looked un repairable. I ended up getting it for less than half of what the barrels were worth. I called Jerry to see if he had a spare stock to fit that frame because this one was trashed. He suggested I send him the stock and receiver to see if it could be repaired. I had very big doubts as it looked terrible. We talked a week later and he said he could repair it. I still had doubts. When I got the gun back I was shocked. It looked great. You couldn't see the cracks and some how he rebuilt the wood on the lower tang also. He re cut the checkering and applied some finish. all this for a fair price. This Smith will be back out hunting this fall. If you think you have a stock that is not repairable, let Jerry take a look. He might be able to repair it. Thank You Jerry.

Love to hear stories like this! Great that we've still got folks like Jerry who can keep these guns in the game with their original components. "Original Components" is the key....just like Grandpa bought/found it! Makes all the difference in the world as far as collector value is concerned.
