I just inherited this 2e gun and I'm trying to understand what I have, the ser number is RE212626 with a T stamped underneath, the barrels have the same ser number and under them is 2e and they are also stamped crown steel, and the forearm has the same number with nothing else. The gun is in really nice shape, from what a local gunsmith says and he says the chokes are full and improved and 26 inches, any information would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

Hello Stephen Bowes, You should purchase a letter on this L C Smith 2E with the T..... The "T" usually indicates a factory TRAP GUN ..... BUT .... a factory TRAP GUN would almost never never never have 26 inch long barrels .... BUT .... We have all learned to never say never ...... You might have a very unusual LCS shotgun if, BIG IF, the 26 inch barrels are original ...... posted by Jent Mitchell on August 17th of 2019.

Thanks a friend of mine looked at my gun last night and he gave me the same advise, he is stumped on it as well he said what has him stumped the most is the barrels are dressed, and it has the hunter one trigger but isn't stamped for it, I didn't understand until he showed me what that meant about the barrels being dressed, but I'm going to get a membership and a letter, thanks again!

I wanted to say thanks for the information about how to get a letter....I just received it and the letter from Dr. Stubbendieck states no.2E 26 inch crown steel barrels and ejectors so according to the letter it's 1 of roughly 100 guns produced in 2E between 1890 and 1912 that had ejectors with 26 inch barrels, I found the letter very interesting and again I very much appreciate the help, there was no information in the letter about the hunter 1 trigger or why there is a T under the serial number on the reciever. If anyone wants I would be happy to post pictures in the future!
