2019 Hoosier SxS Classic

Down to 3 months and counting. I am getting an early start this year so you can all mark your calendars and make plans. Last years attendance was 43 on a really bad weather day, I am hoping to exceed that this year. I also intend to have things run a little smoother with the squadding etc. so if you are attending with a group or have shooters you want to squad with please let me know and I will do my best. I will touch base again in 30 days. I shall attempt to paste a copy of the flyer below.

HOOSIER SxS CLASSIC

SxS SHOOT 08/24/2019

TRI COUNTY COON HUNTERS SPORTING CLAYS
HIGHWAY 129, BATESVILLE, IN
SHOTGUN START AT 10:00AM -- LUNCH INCLUDED
COST FOR 100 BIRDS AND LUNCH --- $45.00

This is a fun shoot with non registered birds, no trophies or prizes.
The purpose is simply to bring together some like minded folks who
share a common appreciation of the SxS for a fun morning of shooting.
Shoot any make, model or gauge that you like. If you have something
to sell or show off please bring it along.
Please RSVP to me at the email address below if you plan on attending
so that I may plan accordingly for the number of expected shooters or
feel free to give me a call if you should have questions. There has been a
good deal of interest and we have a good number of shooters signed
up already.

Hello Everyone:

Hard to believe that we are just days away now and even harder to grasp the weather report. If the Weather Girl is on her A game which is a long shot based upon the
available historical data we are going to be blessed with a glorious day for shooting Saturday. Early predictions have us remaining in the high 70’s and thankfully dry. As
of now we have some 48 shooters signed up. Squads have been pre-arranged and will be posted in the club house. I have been in touch with RST and some other folks
so we are able to offer some door prizes this year for a lucky few. As was the plan we will have a shotgun start at 10:00AM.

• It’s not too late to RSVP for those interested in shooting.
• If you have any eye candy there will be a couple of tables for display items. I encourage you to bring something.
• Please bring anything you may have for sale or trade.

Randy, good luck in getting people to your shoot. It is nice to see that there are more of these shoots taking place in different parts of the country.
When it does take place I hope that you will post some pictures and think about writing an article for the journal. Members always like to read about different shoots.

David as of now I have 48 registered which is a strong showing for this area. We are substantially more organized this year than last year. Shooters will be treated to a great lunch, hats, cigars, and some nice door prizes thanks to folks like RST, Elk Creek Hunt Club, Tri-County Coon Hunters and others. It's gonna be good !

Randy great to hear that you had a successful shoot. I don't know about the others but Morris of RST is very generous.
Hope your shoot increases every year.

I attend last years shoot and had a great time in spite of the weather.I returned this year with 3 of my friends and we had a great time.The weather was perfect, the coarse was fun because of the terrain,the birds were challenging but do able.The Parker gun display was great,[can I say that on this forum?]The Tri Co Coonhunters gun club was welcoming and their facility was great.We returned Sunday morning to shoot their regular monthly event.We are already planning to be back next year.I highly recommend this FUN SXS shoot.

Hey Ted and Rob. Thanks for making the trip and also for bringing Dennis and Herb. The Weather Gods could not have been any kinder. Things certainly went a lot smoother than the prior year, who said I wasn't coachable? While there were a lot of Parkers on display there was also a nice pair of LC Crown guns in there, a 12 and 20, both with 32" VR barrels. Not to mention the Ithaca 7E NID and the Fox FE.I am already scheming on next years shoot in an attempt to make it even better. Thanks to everyone who attended !

I apologizes,I in know way meant to slight the Crown Smith's or the Ithaca.I only noted Parker's because of the number of them on display.After all I am a Smith guy! Thanks again Randy.

Hey Ted. I have been away at the Vintagers and just saw your post. No apologies required as no offense was ever taken. BTW the Vintagers was a real hoot and the LC gang had a great display as usual. Weather was perfect with several different venues to choose from for shooting. Long drive for me but it was worth it.

Ted the Vintagers is a SxS and big bore rifle shoot held at Hausmanns Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays in PA. If you have ever been to the Southern it is similar. The shooting is much better than the Southern while the vendor attendance is down in comparison. The Vintagers have a website which I understand is down right now. Nice shoot and I enjoyed it, long drive from Southern IN though.
