Cleaning suggestions

I have a fairly well used LC Smith Crown grade that needs attention, what's the correct way to clean stock checkering.

A soft toothbrush and Ballistol (will not soften the wood) works well; with Birchwood Casey Stock Cleaner if lots of gunk.

Worked great I also cleaned up a 1914 SB trap and it looks great, finished it up with a bit of stock wax inside and out. again thanks for the tip.

Date of Manufacture

Karl,

I'm curious about the manufacture date on your SBT. I have several and still put several hundred rounds a week through my 1921 Specialty, it just keeps on ticking and to this day, tight as a drum. It was my understanding that the SBT was introduced in 1917. While we learn that little is certain in the "world of Smith", a 1914 production serial number would certainly be an anomaly, it would predate the introduction date by 3 years. That would be really neat! Could you check your number again against our YOM records. You might have the first SBT sold! Love to know. So, I am sure, would Tom Breeden.

If you want to provide the serial number, I will find the record in the ledgers and provide the exact date of manufacture.
