.410 question

Are there records of any LCS .410s being made with longer than 28" barrels? And, what is the approximate percentage of 28" ones as compared to 26"?

Hard numbers not important, just an informed estimate would be helpful.

Of 2826 produced, not including the box locks, one 24 in.; 1580 26 in.; eight 27 in.; 1231 28 in. and 8 30 in.

I have been “collecting” .410s for close to 60 years and have not seen one. I have a friend who is a big time Smith collector, I will check with him to see if he knows where one is. Will check back.

Stan: as of today none of the 30 inch Smith .410s are “accounted for”. This according to my knowledge and that of several long time Smith collectors. If you find one and don’t want it let me know. Maybe someone reading this will let us know where they are.

Most of the .410s with 30-inch barrels are likely in collections. I've written a research letter for an Ideal Grade. With only four Field Grades and four Ideal Grades, you are not going to see them very often

I always wanted one myself and stumbled across a .410 skeeter in what appears to be unfired condition. It was purchased by a gentleman, he shot one box, cleaned it and put it away. I purchased it, I haven’t shot it, just look at it every now and again. Beautiful shotguns!

I have an iJ skeeter 410 with all the options, beavertail, ejectors, Miller trigger straight stock in very fancy walnut but it only has a 28 inch barrel. I am trying to get to LCS but I only have the 410 barrel, need an action! help!!

I am a bit of a .410 doublegun addict, myself. I have two S x S double .410 ejector guns with 30" barrels, one O/U .410 double with 30" barrels, one with 28s and one with 26s. I love shooting doves and quail with them. However, none are vintage guns..................... yet.
