How often does anyone see old Elsie's for sale?

They are for sale all the time. Go to the Southern SXS shoot in Sanford North Carolina and you will see a dozens for sale. Any of the major auction houses have Elsie's for sale all the time.

I’m always looking for L C Smiths, & other SxSs. For example, every year there is a gun show in Easton, MD at their annual Water Fowl Festival. An older gentleman had two Field grade Smiths for sale in beautiful condition - a 16 and a 12 ga. I bought the latter. Couldn’t pass it up for the price. Except for hand/carry wear, it looks new. So ..... if you look enough, you will find. Didn’t Need it, but what the heck - a diamond found in rural Maryland at a little gun show. L O V E I T ! Happy Trails! Roger

I’ve been helping my dad look for his dream gun for a while with no luck. What exactly are the names of the major auction houses and are there any other places you’d recommend to find really specific features on a gun? Thanks for the help, edward

I ask every time I enter a gun shop what project guns they have in back and I have turned up 3 good 20 gauge candidates for restore including a 30" ideal grade with a straight stock and have 600 total in all 3.

But to be honest I rarely see one ready to go out the door and shoot around here.

Thanks for your reply. That's one of the main sites I've been looking at, I was hoping the poster had a different one in mind. Ive looked at that, guns america, gun broker and a few others I can't remember for a while now. Unfortunately, hes looking for a rare combination of features and won't accept a gun lacking any of the features. Specifically, hes looking for a pre-1913 26" with a straight stock and double triggers in a 16 or 20 gauge. It seems that guns much harder to come by than we thought.

I was at the same show as Roger. We had a nice chat and we both bought guns from that gentleman. I could have bought more and Roger should have bought the other Smith. Any show where black guns are not predominant should produce good buys for years to come.
