Quality B 10ga.

Recently recieved a 10 quality B LC. Looks very shootable.
Any idea on production numbers of 10 ga. ?

Dr Jim's "L.C. Smith Production Records" reviews hammer gun production starting on p. 88; including 10g. He does not however list the production for each grade.

A Research Letter could be helpful, and might be very interesting as to who would order the 3rd highest grade hammer gun

BTW: "looking" shootable needs confirmation by a good "look over" by a double gun smith, with special attention to previous barrel damage or modifications

Thanks for the info . Just thought the 10 ga. might be a little interesting. Cant imagine to many were built.

Leland, we need more info about your gun to be able to tell you what you have. However, Quality B's were built between 1880 and 1889. We do know the serial number range for these guns but no records remain so there is no good way to tell how many of each gauge were made. A better description would include markings on the sidelocks, top of barrels, any info on tje water table and barrel flats and the serial number. Also, is your gun a sxs or a drilling?
