In my opinion there are less barrels with full, crisp lettering than partially missing lettering especially the grade stamp. I have noticed trap and ideal grade stamping to often be weaker than surrounding lettering. I also look for the circular polish marks on the breech face that I believe is indicative of a lightly used gun.
