Not all beaver tails had a reinforcing bolt. I have one around here somewhere that is shorter than the normal later skeet type beaver tail that had no reinforcing bolt. It was serial numbered, so it had been fitted to a gun at the factory, but I never put it on a gun. It still had a roller release, and would have required a new, longer thumb piece to work.
