Ernest if you remove the for-end the serial number should be written on the metal, also on the receiver's water table and on the barrel's water table. They were made by Hunter Arms Co. in Fulton from 1894 to 1932.
If you want to know the exact date once you find the serial number you can request a Research Letter and it will tell date, gauge and barrel length.
