Mike, that is very doubtful that your 12 ga. has 2 1/2" chambers. All L.C. Smiths were 2 3/4" from the factory since the beginning. Later some were 3". Take a 3"x5" index card roll it lengthwise and insert it in your chamber, let it unravel and slide it gently until it stops, mark it with a pencil and do it again to see if it repeats. It should measure 2 3/4".
