I stand behind John regarding this stipulation. 16 ga., and especially 20 ga. guns, made to those gauges, are much lighter. It is certainly an advantage to use a heavier 12 ga. gun with inserts. The spirit of these events should always fall back their use in the field, rather than target shooting. Just my opinion.
