The barrels were given a total of three 24hr baths in the tank. They were drawing about 12 amps toward the end. After removing and washing them, they still had a nice ring to them but I wanted to determine the integrity of the solder joint so, using a hammer and centerpunch, I attempted to break the joint. After delivering 4 blows with the hammer, with the punch directed at the point where the tubes touch, the last 1 1/2" inch of the joint separated when the ribs deformed but the rest of the joint remained intact. I wanted to see the insides of the tubes so I cut them in half on the bandsaw from the breach to the muzzle. The electrolysis appeared to have done a very thorough job on the pitting in the bores but as you would anticipate, the rust in the void was still present. If anyone has any experiences regarding this I would like to hear what you concluded and if anyone has any interest I can send you a picture.
