Hunter Arms did not lengthened the 20 gauge chambers from 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" until 1936 Ben. The gun deserves a careful evaluation by a double gun smith, who can measure the chamber length and chokes, and check for cracks in the head of the stock. If the chambers are now 2 3/4", it is critical that the end of the chamber wall thickness is measured.
