I have a 1929 Field Grade represented to be new -in-the-box when I acquired it several years ago. The receiver and side locks are case colored and the locks/receiver have what appears to be a light coat of varnish. The barrels are blued. When the gun is closed, the exposed edge of the barrel lug is blued. The sides of the lug are "white" in color, but I don't believe they are "in-the-white" (i.e., "unfinished.") I think they were likely blued and then polished as part of the final fitting. I would think it would be difficult/expensive to blue the barrels, but somehow cover/tape? the sides of the lugs just to prevent their being blued. The sides of the barrel rib extension are also "white," while the exposed top of the rib extension is blued. The bottom of the extractor is "white," as is the extractor rod. When I say "white," again I am referring to the color, not whether or not the metal was left unfinished. All of the visible metal in the forearm is blued. I have never removed the side locks and thus cannot say how the lock mechanism and parts were finished. I don't know whether this answers your question, but it does describe the gun.
