Mark: Your collection should meet YOUR wants. I enjoy looking at some of the beautiful guns that are in some of our members collections, but I cannot afford such guns. I am handy, and I will purchase a gun that needs work. Yes, I have purchased guns that have hidden surprises that I wish that I didn't need to fix, but I feel that it is part of my hobby. My 'go to' sporting clays gun would have been condemned by many but I sought COMPEDTENT guidance and fixed it so it is safe to shoot. It is still very ugly, but it does what I want it to do. If you want to specialize in your collection, I suggest hammer or transition guns (1889-1891) Attend gun shows, but even better attend Elsie and Vintager shoots and have fun. Talk to the guys there, They are willing to help. Go to the Rock Mountain or the Fall Southern shoots. If necessary borrow an Elsie or pick up an inexpensive Elsie shooter so that you have something to shoot. HAVE FUN!
