Is the 'L.C. Smith' on the sideplate script or block letters?
1897 to 1899 from serial number 55,001 to about 73,000 would be 6 pin, 2 screw, joint check, intermediate hammer Type II, vase shaped ebony for-end tip and script 'L.C. Smith.'
