Hunter Arms serial numbers can be confusing as they were reused over time. Your friends hammer gun was made about 1899; 3 pin, 1 screw, back action locks, joint check, Type III 'C' style hammer, stepped top tang with Twist barrels.
You are likely to need to purchase a 'parts gun' to get everything that you need.
Good for you but this may take a significant investment, for a gun that may not be usable.
