I have not used any of these new Bismuth loads but can share what happened when firing some of the older stuff.I have a BSS 12g. 3" that I had threaded for extended choke tubes about fifteen years ago.I have shot thousands of lead loads in it with no problems.I took it duck hunting and used factory Bismuth loads, maybe fired about ten shells or so.When I tried to change out the choke tubes they were froze or swagged in place so bad that I had to freeze them and destroy them to get them out.I have shot heavy loads of lead shot in it with new choke tubes since, with no issues.I believe that the Bismuth can put much more pressure on the barrels than lead loads. How much is safe in an old L.C.Smith,I do not know.We only know that the soder on these ribs is now old and not of the strength of new guns of this type.Just something to think about.Charlie.
