    Bob, good catch. I was going by two different numbers, the 1872 I took as being an ejector gun, and if so it would be either 1898 or 1918. The other patent date speaks for itself. Since it is an ejector gun the 1898 would fit there. I didn't give the other date much thought and I should have.
    The 1901 pat. date is for the second style ejectors. The only other date would be 1918 when all serial numbers were mixed, ejector, non ejector and hammer guns.
