I have for some time now wanted to purchase an old "American SxS", my preference was an LCS. The nostalgia, history, etc. I found what appeared to be an excellent one. After paying probably to much, and then having it inspected by a competent gunsmith, issues cropped up. That's ok, I'm a big boy, 100% my error, failed to perform proper "Due Dillgence",and so on. For someone "seriously" considering their first time purchase of an LCS, might I suggest, first: Brouse some posts on this board (which you are already doing). Join the LCSCA. Purchase a copy two books, "L.C Smith, Production Records" and, "L.C. Smith, The Legnd Lives". Therein, a person may find answers to questions they may have, or questions to ask that previously they did not know to ask. These two books are good additins to your collection, even if you decide not to purchase an LCS. "Research first, buy second" is always a good plan. Perhaps one day I will follow my own advise. Darn! I just caught a glimpse of a pig flying by!
