David We have talked about this one before. It was you who informed me that the serial number indicated that it was a transition gun. The wood IS narrower at the tip otherwise it has all the features I would associate with a Syracuse model. The forend iron is the same width as Syracuse guns at the shoe. Recently I did acquire a barrel and forend for another Syracuse hammergun which I meant to provide you with the serial number, which is 11,816. A 32" 12 gauge, checkered at 20 lpi. This was a quality E from the engraving. Roll pressed on rib: L.C.Smith, maker Syracuse,NY Damascus Steel No other information, as I only have the barrels and forend.
