    The first annual Sportsmen's Exposition opened in Madison Square Garden, New York, on May 13, and continued to the 19th, under the most flattering auspices.
    The Hunter Arms Company, Fulton, N. Y., manufacturers of high grade guns for sportsmen. Here could be seen samples of all the various grades of the celebrated L. C. Smith gun, which were well explained by the Messrs. Hunters by the aid of a gun, cut away showing the inside mechanism and working parts. One quickly observed the simplicity and strength of the piece and the principle of the gun. as it was shown up in his best possible manner.





    The Hunters exhibited the different grades of non-ejectors, also the automatic ejector, and from the cheapest grades in twist barrels costing $50, up to the finest grade they make, costing $500, a sample of this grade being shown which had been quickly sold. This gun was a beautiful sample of the gunmaker's art, having two sets of barrels, both of the very finest Whitworth fluid steel, and the engraving of the most beautiful design, inlaid with dogs of gold, and quail of the same metal; the triggers were of gold and the stock of the finest Italian walnut and most artistically checkered.
    They also showed samples of guns in the partly finished state and pieces of gun barrels, showing how they are first constructed, waking in all a most creditable display of fine American guns. Mr. Robert Hunter had charge of this exhibit and all the finest guns were marked as sold before the end of the week.
