Has anyone taken measurements of the outside diameter of a,set of 20 gauge barrels as well as inside diameter of the bores. On both a 2 1/2" and 2 3/4" barrels?
When a customer ordered 2 3/4" chambers on an L C Smith did they have special barrels they used?
How much wall thickness is lost when the chambers are lengthen by .250. What is the minimum wall thickness called, out my L C Smith.
I have Difficulty understanding if chambers are lengthened by a highly qualified barrel smith 1/4 inch, barrels are unservicable. Now if done by an unqualified crank, who knows? Since 20 gauge bores are .615 it seems that if we measure the outside of a set of barrels at 2 1/2" and again at 2 3/4" How many thousands are lost?
Then there are some well respected smiths saving it is not a major issue shooting 2 3/4" shells in a 2 1/2" gun.

Dr Drew I know how have done extensive studies on barrel strength. I respect your opinion on this subject. Help me to better understand why lengthening the chambers by 1/4" is so dangerous.
