    What a find Rick! I hope the Research Letter shows the gun to have been ordered by one of the "Top Notchers" at the traps. Do share the information, and I might be able to provide some details on the shooter

    This is a 1st Style Reinforcing Wedge Variant on a 1898 No. 3 with (likely replacement) Nitro steel barrels.



    Prior to the football "CHAMBERS 3 INCHES" mark, some guns were marked like this



    If the 'C' looks like this we thinks it stands for Crucible Steel.



    The '3' should have another number nearby if it represents the pre-fit and finish barrel weight
