    If the gun wasn't special ordered with a recoil pad, a skeleton butt, a checkered butt, heel and toes plates, or a smooth butt the butt of that gun would have been fitted with a hard-rubber plate identical to that on the lowest grade hammer gun; a hard rubber plate with horizontal lines across the mid-section, and smooth at heel and toe. I've seen more than one Deluxe with the standard hard-rubber butt plate.
