The quote from Buck is not quite accurate. The height of the frame above the water table is different for each gauge, as well as the width of the breech across the balls. The difference is most evident in the .410 where even the dimensions of the top lever are affected. I first noted this difference when I bought a loose stock with the intention of putting it on a 20 gauge. The height of the stock where it meets the frame was a great deal less than that of a 20 gauge.
