For whatever it's worth, years ago there was a poster to the doublegunshop forum using the name "Beans". Beans was obviously a huge LC Smith fan; but took lots of heat from the other forum members regarding some of his claims, one of which I recall as being that Hunter Arms having patented the beavertail forearm. There is no evidence that a patent was ever granted to the Hunter Arms Company for a beavertail forearm; nor to any other gun maker to my knowledge? Not saying this is the same "Beans", and certainly not disparaging the owner of the subject Smith gun; just sharing what is otherwise a useless bit of trivia.
