Tom that is interesting to know. I do know that I had bought at auction a 16 ga. Field Grade with a Hot and ejectors and I knew from the start the barrels were cut to 26", but still had to have it. I found out when I got it home and put snap caps in it, that it wouldn't cock and found that the cocking plate was missing.
I hear from some people that their "elsie" just barely opens wide enough to extract the shells and I wonder if on these guns the extractor activator is getting worn.
