"Bernard Ribbon" on Quality No. 1 Archived Message

Interesting how things finally come together over time. I have been uncertain as to the name of this pattern; found on a c. 1897-1898 Quality No. 1 Smiths.

Bro. David's marked "Laminated Steel"; the usual barrels on Quality No. 1 guns 1892-1898.

It is apparently a Twist variant called "Bernard ribbon" or "Rubans Royal" (by Manufacture Liegeoise)

This Joseph Juleinond de Nessonvaux sample box recently surfaced, with a similar segment on the right. The segments are numbered but unfortunately the names matching the segments have been lost
'JJ' has been found on Baker Gun & Forging barrels

I've not seen the pattern on other U.S. maker's guns. Might be an interesting story as to how a few No. 1s ended up with these barrels, and this 1902 Quality F hammer gun!?!
