    Jack is right on. One of our earlier technical advisors, Dr. Bill Hambidge performed that exact operation on my first Elsie, and he threaded the hole the same as the single sideplate screw on my regular weight gun, so that I always had a correct screw on hand no matter where I was!
    The down side, and why I subscribe to David Williams method (and a couple of others)is that not everyone has a friend who's a machinist, with end mills etc.
    Jacks method is no doubt the most dependable and least likely to get you in trouble with your stock, but the most difficult to implement initially. Once done though, that gun is set for life!
