I looked at my Brophy book last night and there are six or so nice close-up photos of Jacob Glahn's sidelock scenes, one of them a Syracuse #5 with his signature. Also to correct my previous error, Brophy mentions all the engravers, Jacob and his three sons, the Spangler brothers, Albert Kraus and his apprentice/successor Mr. Jarred in his section on engraving. Jacob Glahn and Kraus are the most notable of the group with regard to LC Smith and I know little about other work each might have done but didn't Albert Kraus engrave the Ithaca $3,000 grade Model 37? Actually when comparing a number of Kraus v. Glahn gundogs in the Brophy photos, Kraus's dogs look the blockiest to me but both are well done. I'd be happy to scan the photos and send them if you haven't seen these Eric.
