I thought this would make a good conversational piece. There are some guns in the records as having a second set of barrels, what it doesn't state is if they came with a second for-end. The cost of the barrels was half the price of the gun (there are some guns out there with an extra set but have a lower quality set of barrels for them, which would be a lower price).
Many were sent back to the factory at a later time for a second set of barrels and most had a second for-end hence the #2 stamping on the loop and for-end metal. I believe that guns ordered from the factory with a second set of barrels did not need an extra for-end since the extra set was fit to the for-end not the for-end fit to barrels. If an ejector gun this added for-end would again mean more money. This would be if you did not order the extra for-end, or did it come with the barrels which I doubt it. I have seen a few examples of this and shame on me for not copying the pictures.
Does anyone have an extra set with only one for-end from the factory?
