Southern SXS Spring Challenge Display Archived Message

    Hello Everyone!
This has taken way too long, but I've been swamped since our return from Sanford.
I'd like to just take a second to thank our contributors for this years display. I'll not mention any names, as several specifically asked that I don't, but because of their generosity, good will, and fine taste in American Long Arms, we likely had the most impressive display of Syracuse Era LC Smiths that have been in the same zip-code since they were new, on the shelf, back in the day.
We even had one dealer who had intended to sell a fine example of a high grade gun at the show decide to instead display that gun in our tent, which essentially pulled it off the market. Fortunately one of our members actually bought two other high grade guns from that dealer during the weekend, so his trip was well worth the fuel it required for his two day trip to Sanford and his foregone opportunity to sell the gun he volunteered for our display.
The biggest part of our display came from real, honest to goodness, private owners who just wanted to share their Unusually fine examples of real American craftsmanship with others who might not otherwise get to see them up close and personal. Some of the guns were in pristine original condition, others were in fantastic restored condition, and some were just great examples of guns that had been rode hard but put up after being carefully cared for as the tools that they were originally purchased to be. I feel lucky to have been able to see and handle the whole bunch.
On behalf of everyone able to have seen the display in person, a heartfelt thank you to all those who contributed.
It wont be long before we'll come up with a theme for next years display, and I look forward to seeing what the cat drags in!
