Jan 14th 1899 Issue of the Sporting Life has a
list of stolen guns. Most were L. C. Smith's and
this could add some colorful history to a gun if its on the list.
The good news is in a latter article on Feb. 25th 1899 the guns were recovered!
So if your gun is on the list it is no longer stolen!
So lets hear if any of these guns are still around!

    Feb 25th Sporting Life reported

The Bandle Arms Co., of Cincinnati, was
robbed last November of a large quantity
of guns. They are now in-a fair way to
recover the entire lot, as the stock has
been found in Missouri. A traveling repre-
sentative of a gun house found that fine
guns were being sold at a ridiculously low
price at Shelbina, Ma. He notified the
Bandle Arms Co., and detectives soon
located a case of twenty guns in St. Louis
and the others in the hands of shooters
in Shelbina, where they had been sold at
less than one-half their value. As all of
the stolen guns were numbered, and the
same advertised in the sporting journals a
few month ago. it seems strange that
any one should buy a gun except from a
reliable dealer without- first looking over
    the list of stolen guns.
