I'm wondering whether anyone knows with certainty what year Hunter moved to 2 3/4 chambers in 12 gauge.
I ask, because when measuring my 1942 production Field Grade gun with a Galazan chamber gauge it seems to fall slightly short of 2 3/4. Measuring other guns of mine the gauge goes in to about the "lip." But on this gun it extends maybe 1/16th BEYOND the lip, making me wonder whether it's actually a 2 5/8's gun.
Did Hunter make LC's with 2 5/8's chambers in this era? Or do LC's just measure a little shorter than others, even as Hunter considered this to BE a 2 3/4's gun?
