You will likely hear from others with much greater knowledge, but I recently acquired a 12ga 2-bbl set. However the gun was likely returned to the factory and fitted with the second set. an indication of this is that the first set has the serial number but the second set has the number 2 stamped as well. Guns produced with s-sets from the start should have the number 1 on one set number 2 on the second.
