Safety and other issues Archived Message

I have a Field FW 16 ga. manufactured in 1946, that I have had restocked since the original was severely cracked. I am having a couple of issues since having it restocked and I suspect it has to do with the reassembly of the gun.

For starters the safety is not functioning properly. It engages in the safe and not safe positions, but not automatically when the gun is broken open and closed.

Also when the gun is broken open, the toplever/rotary bolt will close while the barrels are fully open.

I don't know if these could be inletting problems with the stock or again it was just reassembled incorrect.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    William Norton
