Stuart, this gun would be from around 1885. The side lock hammer guns started in either late 1883 (patent date of Nov. 27, '83) or 1884 at serial number 10000. Hard to pinpoint a date as there are no records for these Syracuse guns.
RST shells Vintage shells for these guns. I would have the gun examined by a good gunsmith that knows these guns. The barrels were fairly robust and these guns were made very well.
