    hammer gun Archived Message

I came across a 12-gauge hammer gun in a shop. It seems it is a two-pin gun with a "C" hammer and it has the "royal" steel barrels. The SN is in the 174XXX range.

The left hammer balks a bit upon cocking, that is, it seems to "catch" but really hasn't and then one has to give it an extra push down before it will engage. (The right hammer, on the other hand, cocks very crisply.) The gun will certainly need one firing pin and stock work and other help, but the price is just a few hundred bucks. I am wondering if I should cough twice and pass.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.
