I've posted this before, so if you remember the story, disregard the first paragraph. Several years ago I really started to get the urge to own a classic American SxS. After shouldering a buddies 20ga Field grade I narrowed that urge down to purchasing a 20ga FG with 28" barrels and double triggers. I didn't care about collector value and I always intended to have whatever gun I purchased, restored. Fast forward to Oct 2013 when I got a call from a friend who had come across an LC that he said I really needed to look at. Since My wife and I had just had our first daughter several months earlier, a new gun was out of the question. Plus, the gun had 26" barrels and a HOT, so I wasn't too interested. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the guy wouldn't take no for an answer when I told him I didn't need to see the gun. He brought it to VA for me to look at when we went up to have our daughter christened. What I found was not a Field Grade 20ga, but a Trap Grade with metal that seemed to be in phenomenal shape, an aftermarket Fajen stock, at a price I just couldn't refuse. Since the stock was not original, the collector value was gone, and the gun was perfect for a restoration.

Now, the wait begins. The next 6 month wait is going to be hell while Bill Schwarz performs his magic. The gun will get reblackend, colored, and all wood will be restored and refinished. The LOP will also get cut down to 14.5" with a period correct Silvers pad installed. I felt even better about the purchase when Mr Schwarz said the barrels looked as good as any barrels he has seen. I can't wait to get the gun back. Mr Schwarz showed me some of the work he has done, and it was beautiful. I think the gun is in good hands.
