Sporting Life, February 25, 1899, p. 14 http://www.la84foundation.org/SportsLibrary/SportingLife/1899/VOL_32_NO_23/SL3223014.pdf The Bandle Arms Co., of Cincinnati, was robbed last November of a large quantity of guns. They are now in a fair way to recover the entire lot, as the stock has been found in Missouri. A traveling representative of a gun house found that fine guns were being sold at a ridiculously low price at Shelbina, Mo. He notified the Bandle Arms Co., and detectives soon located a case of twenty guns in St. Louis and the others in the hands of shooters in Shelbina, where they had been sold at less than one-half their value. As all of the stolen guns were numbered, and the same advertised in the sporting journals a few month ago, it seems strange that any one should buy a gun except from a reliable dealer without first looking over the list of stolen guns.
