My mom gave us my grandfathers LC Smith double barrel 20 GA for Christmas. She knows nothing about it, so I'm doing my research before starting to restore. I think it's Ideal grade as there is an I stamped below the serial number bottom of left barrel. London Steel is stamped on both barrels below. Serial number stamped (in one place hand engraved) "Fw 27574" and matches on all the parts. Left barrel stamped Hunter Arms Co Inc Mfrs Fulton NY USA, right barrel stamped LC Smith ????l grade - looks like the word was "Ideal" and was hand engraved rather than stamped, but is partially worn away. Barrels are only 19 inches long, entire gun is 36 inches. Is this common? Also, gun is missing the wooden forend, can anyone recommend where to get authentic parts? I'd like to fully restore to good working and display quality. Thanks!
